WEEDSPORT, NY – Erick Rudolph captured a dominant victory Sunday night at Weedsport Speedway, leading the majority of the 40-lap Modified feature to secure a well-earned win. Starting second, Rudolph capitalized on an early restart to seize control of the race and never looked back. His consistent pace and smooth driving held off a charging field, delivering a statement performance on the storied New York clay.
The race began with Will Shields on the pole, and the #24R machine quickly jumped out front, leading the first two laps. A caution reset the field early, and on the lap-three restart, Rudolph made his move.
Charging to the top of turns one and two, he overtook Shields for the lead. Behind them, Larry Wight surged forward, taking second from Shields on lap six and beginning his pursuit of Rudolph.
Mike Mahaney held steady to claim third, Matt Sheppard thrilled fans with a hard-charging drive from 13th, eventually clawing his way up to a fourth-place finish just ahead of Jimmy Phelps, who rounded out the top five.
